About GEBLA
GEBLA is an artificial word, composed of parts of my first and last name, Georg Blaschke. It may not be the most imaginative name, but in frame building it is quite traditional to put your own name on the frame. Even though, in most cases, the namesake is not the one actually building the frame, things are different at GEBLA: here, the name simply says what’s inside.
The fact that this artificial word has no meaning suits me perfectly. I build frames for all kinds of bicycles: road bikes, mountain bikes, touring bikes, city bikes, and more. A meaningful name would quickly pigeonhole me into a specific niche, which I don’t want.
That’s pretty much all there is to say about the word GEBLA. If you’d like to learn more about me as a person—about my work and my life connected to bicycles—you’ll find what you’re looking for by clicking the buttons above.
If you want to explore more of my past work, take a look at the GEBLA History Tour. Since the late 1980s, I have been making bicycle parts, and since 1992, bicycle frames.
